Waste incineration plants in Poland
Content
Recent years in Poland have also shown a rapid development in the field of the Waste incineration plants located in the biggest cities in Poland. In 2016 Poland had only one Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant located and operating in the capital city in Warsaw. Unfortunately, this is was not enough, taking into account Polish economic development in the last years. Polish accession to the European Union (EU) significantly influenced the development of the industry which resulted in increased production of waste while the management system was not prepared to handle it in the proper way so there was a big amount of waste. Thanks to the support of the EU a new projects have been initiated by the municipalities in the following cities in Poland: Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Konin, Kraków, Poznań and Szczecin with its massive investment due to start it full operation in 2018.
