Klaipeda region: 92% off communal waste processed

Klaipeda region is active in development of waste separation, collection and processing. Communal waste from Klaipeda region is utilising by burning in "Fortum" for heat and electricity production. Sorted waste is reused as row materials for production purposes. EU task - to be processed more as 10% till 2030 just achieved. To landfill goes 8% of communal waste now. According to “Circular economy” firstly seeking to prevent waste after – collection and processing. New regulation is preparing on better sorting of waste at home. From 2019 food waste will be collecting separately, special containers will be introduced. The slag after burning should be used in other purposes: for construction of roads, concrete, etc.
