New support promotes more wind power

Content

The Swedish Energy Agency has got a mission from the Swedish government to allocate and distribute a new wind power premium subsidy to municipalities who successfully plans for new wind power. This should support the transition to a completely renewable energy system. Seventy million SEK per year will go to wind power premium subsidies to Sweden's municipalities to increase the number of wind turbines. "Through the wind power premiums, the municipalities have a strong incentive how the work is considered in the wind power process, so that wind power are both planned, initiated and put into service. The municipalities can use the money where they estimate they do the most benefit”, says coordinator and Swedish Energy minister Ibrahim Baylan. The premium will be based on how much wind power was put into operation in the municipality during the previous year. The more wind power that is put into operation, the greater will the compensation be to the municipality.
